Resilience

She forgot herself . First by choice, Later by destiny.

Her legacy lives on.

A Memoir of Love, Identity, and Legacy.

When dementia silenced Rachel’s long-held wish to write her own story, her daughter took on the deeply personal task of bringing that life to the page; an act of love, remembrance and rediscovery.

Rachel’s journey unfolds from her spirited childhood to the quiet strength of her later years. A life shaped by duty and the subtle sacrifices made in the name of love. Her story reflects the experience of countless women who, while nurturing others, slowly lose sight of themselves.

Joined by a granddaughter who helped shape these memories into a cohesive narrative, this three-generation collaboration became more than a memoir. It is a mirror for unseen mothers and daughters everywhere.

As dementia slowly takes hold, Rachel’s fading memories illuminate how identity, love and legacy are intertwined across generations.

Poignant and deeply human, Resilience celebrates womanhood in all its quiet power while inviting readers to reflect on their own journeys and discover the small, enduring truths that define an ordinary yet extraordinary life.

A quiet, powerful celebration of the women who hold families together often at the cost of their own dreams.

A Tender Tribute to Womanhood

A Mirror for Mothers and Daughters

A story that will make you remember, forgive, and understand.
For anyone who has ever loved a woman who forgot herself.

A Reflection on Memory, Identity, and Legacy

As dementia slowly blurs the past, what remains becomes clearer:
love, sacrifice, and the life we leave behind in others.

What This Story Will Leave With You

Meet the Authors

Dr. Beena Augustine and her daughter, Sneha Augustine, co-authored this memoir to preserve the life, legacy, and truths of their mother and grandmother.

Dr. Beena Augustine, PhD. (International Business); M.Phil. (Mental Health)

Dr. Beena has spent a lifetime observing, understanding, and caring for the human mind. Her experiences spanning a corporate career in the U.A.E. that took her to more than 40 countries, alongside her roles as a mother and daughter, have shaped her unique perspective on resilience, choices, and the subtle power of everyday life. This memoir is her tribute to her own mother, exploring the motivations, sacrifices, and strength that defined her life, while reflecting on the legacy of multiple generations of women.

Through this work, she invites readers to witness the quiet courage and determination that often go unseen but shape lives in profound ways.

When her mother expressed the wish to have her life story immortalized, Beena took on the task of collecting and documenting those stories, bringing her insight, empathy, and lived experience to the narrative.

What began as Beena’s effort to honor her mother’s story, soon evolved into a multigenerational collaboration.

Sneha Augustine

Sneha, still early in her corporate career, took a sabbatical for self-discovery, during which this project became deeply personal. In exploring the depth of her grandmother’s life and learning truths she had never fully known before, Sneha not only helped bring the memoir to life but also experienced a journey that reshaped how she views her own choices and priorities.

Driven by her deep love for her grandmother and a passion for storytelling, she collaborated to refine and transform the original manuscript into a cohesive, compelling memoir. Sneha infused the work with literary structure, narrative clarity, and thoughtful reflections, ensuring the voices of three generations resonate authentically.

Together, they have created a memoir that honors not only one woman’s extraordinary life but also the enduring strength that threads through every generation.

This is their first collaborative publication, born from love, memory and the desire to share a story that connects them.

The story is primarily told from the protagonist’s perspective, while any sections labeled as the author’s perspective represent Dr. Beena’s reflections and voice.
